Child porn man jailed.

Byline: Sophie Blakemore

AN information technology manager from Birmingham was jailed for four months after downloading pornographic photographs of children from the Internet.

Gordon Willcocks (46) of Grovesnor Court, Grovesnor Road, Handsworth, pleaded guilty to 12 charged of making indecent photographs of children at Birmingham Magistrates Court.

Chairman of the bench Richard Lea told him: 'This was a serious exploitation of children. We are all parents on this bench and are totally sickened by it.'

Julia Morgan, prosecuting, told the court that Willcocks, who was employed by the Insolvency Service, had downloaded the pictures of children aged 6 and above over a two-and-a-half year period from January 1997.

Distasteful

In September this year a warrant was obtained by police to search his home and 12 A4 colour photographs were recovered.

Miss Morgan said Willcocks had access to material from the Internet via his home computer.

She said he had immediately made a 'full and frank' admission to police and had said he was stimulated by them.

Brian Pugh defending said: 'These matters are most distasteful to deal with.

'This is a case where we have a man, a victim of his own sexuality, who for his own private purposes downloaded materials that should not be there.'

Mr Pugh said that Willcocks was a single man who had a led an isolated existence who needed 'support and guidance' and not 'punishment or scorn.'

Willcocks was sentenced to four months for each of the 12 charges to run concurrently.
