NSW: NSW holiday road toll rises to six

The NSW holiday road toll has risen to six .. with the death of a man in a four-car
collision on the state's north coast.

Police say the 27-year-old man from Guyra was driving a sedan north in the south-bound
lane of the Pacific Highway at Chinderah .. at about 10 o'clock (AEDT) last night.

He then collided with a Mitsubishi being driven south.

Another car then ran into the Mitsubishi .. and a Volkswagon received minor damage
when it hit debris.

The driver of the sedan died at the scene .. while his 29 year old passenger was trapped
for a short time before being freed and taken to hospital in a serious condition.

A 20-year-old man from Queensland .. driving the first Mitsubishi .. was also trapped
and is now in a serious condition in hospital.

The national holiday road toll now stands at 30.
